I have a feeling that I almost got scammed on here. Board name is reg3 and msn is neelarmsong@hotmail.com. He wanted to buy my account for 400 euro and said he had paypal. He wanted the e-mail, account and password before he'd pay. I declined so I wouldn't get scammed, but I checked his other posts and he has a rogue for sale and will only accept Western Union ( be careful to use Western Union, you are not protected.). I messaged him back asking about it and he said his paypal was expired (do they expire? lol).

Sorry if you are legit, but it doesn't seem like it at all.

sysRqprin just tried to scam me too. I mentioned that he'd have to wait 72 hours after paypal payment to ensure it was not fraudulent. He called me a scammer then I dropped the beans that I already knew he was a scammer.

neelarmsong@hotmail.com just dealt with this guy also. He is definitely a scammer or he has like 8 other people using his MSN.

He talked to me twice as if we had never talked about my account before.

First time he offered me $400 US than the next day he goes "are you selling or buying an account" and after a little chat he offers $230.

The first chat we had he claims to have had bought 3 accounts and transferred all characters to a new account, i said you need the same last name to do that, but he argued you didnt.

He is most definitely a scammer. So avoid neelarmsong@hotmail.com reg3

I was contacted over aim buy someone

SCREEN NAME : mviaoera

they made the transaction with a stolen paypal account, I used this money to buy an xbox. I was sitting at $200 when the owner of the paypal account refuted his claim dropping my account balance to -$200

I do not have money to pay for this now and am trying to resell my account as fast as possible as it is the only way I can get out of that debt.

I called the number he listed, it was some senator in Mass., definantly not him.

i have a question...
if I sell account and I give scan of my ID to seller and he'll know my login, can he write to blizzard that someone stole his account? and give to blizzard scan of my ID as a proof?
I hope that it is not possible but i want to be sure because if I'll be trying to sell my account I wont be scammed...
Thanks for answers.
do NOT DEAL WITH

grice-1987@hotmail.com

grice1987

^ is the AIM

he is using a stolen paypal account

we did a mutual $1 exchange and said the money and account transaction would be done the next day and a few hours later there was a dispute and apparently something about the original owner of the paypal not knowing he did it or something did the dispute claim and when i talked to the buyer about it he went offline.

also a good tip

if the buyer claims his paypal is verified, do a mutual $1 exchange and then wait 1 day to do the full account / money transfer. this will let paypal have 24 hours to figure out if the buyer / seller 's account is fraud and will
help you out to figure out if they are scammers
*Sigh* this guy scammed my WoW account like 2months ago.

Call blizzard if you are the original owner of the account. They ask bunch of stuff about you to verify this. For example your full name and address (as they appear in the account), four last numbers of last credit card used to pay your subscription, CD-key or some other stuff that you will know if you are the original owner of that account.

I just got reverse scammed. Well. I will get my account back if I don't get my money, but still it's a drag that people can just cancel their payments if you are using paypal. So DO NO USE PAYPAL. EVER!

Google that reverse scam and you see that paypal is not the way to go. No seller protection at all. Buyers get their money back if they want. No matter what.

he seemed like a nice guy but although like some people who have posted here i also did a silly thing and didnt read about other peoples experiences VERY SILLY THING 2 DO. i guess u live and learn

I have read the posts below and i believe that the £1 exchange thing is the best and easiest way to find out wether the guy ur selling to is a scammer, if the £1 goes into a dispute then ofc ur guy is a scammer

well i thought id share the experience, dont be idiots like me read this thread and actually take notice i had many people interested in my account and i was only thinking about the money, but looking back now i rekon all of them where scammers

Just to warm u all never trust anybody ! and always think about the account and dont let the money cloud ur vision

Well thanks for reading and gl

one day we will get them scammers.....

OH AND BTW can anyone give me any pointers on getting my account back should i report it to blizzard or threaten him or wat?!? ur help would be greatly appricated.

Cameron says:
Using something called worldpay, the huge quoted post near the bottom explains about this. It stops fraudulent use of credit cards, and stops chargebacks/seller fraud
KITE says:

Cameron says:
got an armory link here: http://eu.wowarmory.com/character-sheet ... =Baiinshie
KITE says:
ok
Cameron says:
Its a merchent credit card service, its the same kind of thing stores like amazon.com would use.
Cameron says:
The Markeedragon link has an explaination near the bottom.
Cameron says:
Unless someone can guess the adress credit card details nd they all match, it stops people from using stolen cards/accounts.
Cameron says:
At the same time giving a fair chargeback system.
Cameron says:
You had a look at the armory link?
KITE says:
k
Cameron says:
So everyting is ok? (The payment method, the char on armory?)
KITE says:
yes
Cameron says:
The above armory link is broken, it don't show a char. It suggests your not looking at the char since the webpage shows an error message, suggesting you are not a real buyer, instead just buying any account you can with a stolen credit card/paypal account. Have a nice day.
So keep an eye out for him/her. Notice how I gave plenty of chances to notice the error.

Is it not advised for someone in the US to sell an account to someone in Canada? I'm just not sure what legal recourse could be taken if they don't pay. Any advice?

Geez guys, are you all nubs or something? It's EASY to get your account back if you get scammed.

You call Blizzard, give them the original name and secret answer, then ask them to reset your password and change your email. It's that easy.

So why am I seeing so many people asking how to get your account back? A half-retarded monkey could do it.

So long as you have the name and secret answer, you can get your account back at any time.

So if you get scammed (like I did), you buy a new account, input the original name. Then call Blizzard, get your account back. After that, you transfer your main character(s) to the new account you set up.

The important thing to remember is that as far as Blizzard's concerned, anybody with the oringal name and secret answer is the owner of the account.

Theres 1 thing in this topic i do not understand... When you say "my balance went down to -200$" it means that he took 200$ of your money or he took back what he sent you? If they withdraw or whatever do they just get back the money they sent or your money too? Sorry if it seems like a dumb question.

example: 200 after he sends you the money for the account, you withdraw the 200 to your bank account, they get the money back because paypal doesn't support electronically transfered items, you end up with -200

powerAOC is a scammer.
just caught him sending money to my paypal with a stolen pay pal account.
when talking to him on aim, i asked him to verify the email address by replying to an email, he failed to do so. This peaked my interest, and so I looked up the address on 411.com, only to find that the address did not in fact exist.

good luck, don't do business with this guy.

Hi all,

Nice tips. I am in the process of selling my WoW account to a buyer, he seems legit. He gave me his phone number, and said I can call.

He requests I confirm an email change immediately after the funds have been placed into my Payal.

Should I do this? What can they do with my account if they have my WoW account under their email? Can I get my wow account back?

Thanks, a response would be tremendously appreciated.

Anyone know a fool-proof way of completing a paypal account sale without screwing over the seller?

This is my first time to sell an account, I'm selling my baby, full sunwell/t6 rogue and want to make sure it goes off without a hitch. Beyond calling the person and hoping they aren't a professional liar, is there anyway to be sure they dont screw me and force me to go through a lot of hassle?

BTW- Great tips thus far, just hoping for maybe some personal experience from someone.

SCAMMER ALERT
--------------------

Please be aware of recieving an email that is 'supposedly' from blizzard, it will be from noreply@blizzard.com and it will appear to be a 'warning' from blizzard that your account is being sold, etc, and that unless you verify the account it will be closed/suspended/termitated.

Yet following the link to put in the information (which it requires all the information a scammer can use to take your account) will lead you to a scammers site -

firstly to - http://worldofwarcraf.lhosting.info/
then to - http://worldofwarcraf.lhosting.info/ide ... ation.html

(notice the spelling of 'worldofwarcraf' and that the url is totally different from wow verification pages)

the 'link' appears good, but the url's are totally bogus, but it IS a total scammers site.

There are a LOT of scammers reading these forums and able to fraudelently use PAYPAL, they will try to send you HALF the amount, get your pw & details then send you the rest. It will all seem fine until 15-20 minutes later when the monies will be frozen and taken by paypal.

Your best way to avoid these scammers (f****n tards they are), is after you recieve paypal payment, do NOT give ANY pw's until you have emailed the paypal account holder and recieved an email back from them confirming THEY want to do this transaction.

MAKE SURE TO EMAIL THE ACCOUNT THE PAYPAL ACCOUNT IS REGISTERED TO.!

ALSO to be double sure, in the email to the buyer, get thier phone number and CALL THEM.

You MUST use the email thier paypal account is linked with, do NOT use some random email a scammer may give you.

If any of the above does not happen, CANCEL all dealings with them immediately, and REPORT the issue to paypal who will then contact the authorities.

Again .. there a LOT of scammer reading these forums (and ones that simply change names to try you again).

I always check the buyers IP address.

Firstly, I ask them where they live.
(The usual reply is "US," but one time I got "NewZeiland" from a guy who tried to scam me 3 times in a row, he knew I was in Auz)

Then I ask them to download a random music file I send over msn.
(If they say no, I tell them we can't deal and remove them from my contacts list.)

If they do accept, I then use "SmartSniff" or some other Application that detects packets being sent to a Remote address.

I get their IP address.

--
This is the fun part.
--

Check their IP on this site: http://www.ip-adress.com/ipaddresstolocation/

So.. my guy lives in the US?
I got his IP address : 58.17.88.190

Punch that in to the website..
aand.. surprise surprise..

IP address country: China
IP address state: Jiangxi
IP address city: Nanchang

Fucking Liar!
/cast banish

It's a nice, subtle method of verifying a buyer's whereabouts; If they're lying.. And.. now I gotta go talk to this guy who just added my msn.

Lets see how it goes..

--

Felidire says:
hi?
peter says:
hello
peter says:
I am interested in your wow acc
peter says:
is it available?
Felidire says:
which one ((Half the time they don't even know what account they're buying))
peter says:
#######
Felidire says:
k, where do you live? ((Always ask this early on))
peter says:
I am from Denmark now travelling in usa
peter says:
u?
Felidire says:
Australia
Felidire says:
can you download this for me?

Felidire sends:
(### - ####.mp3(about 4.4mb))

peter says:
what?
Felidire says:
can you press accept for me?

Buyer Accepts the file, I obtain his IP (221.208.147.64)
I check it on the website posted above

Felidire says:
So you live in:
IP address country: China
IP address state: Heilongjiang
IP address city: Harbin

Why did you lie?

--

At this point he just goes quiet. And I block him.
So that's how I start my ??? off. Good Luck guys. ,,xP

WOW, from the emails I have got 9/10 of the people are scammers!!

Does anyone recommend using Western Union ( be careful to use Western Union, you are not protected.)? that way they wont get their money back.

I don't think moneybookers are helpful, they charge a lot to withdraw funds too.
